Research Interests

My current research is related to the environmental and social aspects of biofuels, particularly market-mediated or ÒindirectÓ effects on land use and food security that result from growing crop-based biofuels.  I am interested in methodological issues for understanding these effects as well as practical policies for minimizing undesired outcomes and promoting cleaner, more sustainable biofuels.  I use a variety of tools and methods including economic modeling, life-cycle assessment, and stochastic analysis.
